MG has outlined its future technology strategy, detailing new developments in advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS). Several of the manufacturer’s new technologies are scheduled to reach production from 2027 onwards.
The roadmap was presented during MG Tech Day at the company’s UK headquarters in London and includes the introduction of a new Plug-in Hybrid+ powertrain, semi-solid-state battery technology for hybrid models, enhanced parking assistance functions and motorway driving support.
The company also confirmed that Level 4 robotaxi trials are underway in Europe, the Middle East and China.

Driver Assistance Systems for European Roads
As part of the roadmap, MG outlined further developments to its ADAS technologies, which are being refined using driving data collected across 24 European countries.
The company has gathered more than 1.2 million kilometres of real-world driving data to support the development of systems suited to European road layouts, including roundabouts, shared spaces and urban environments.
Among the technologies highlighted was the latest version of MG’s One Touch iAD parking assistance system. The system supports automatic parking, kerbside parking assistance, automated exit from confined parking spaces and reverse path assistance, which can retrace a vehicle’s route for up to 100 metres while detecting obstacles.
MG said additional parking functions, including remote parking assistance and smartphone-controlled parking features, are also under development.
Navigate On Autopilot Scheduled for 2027
MG plans to introduce its Navigate On Autopilot (NOA) system in a new SUV due to launch in late 2027.

The motorway-focused system is designed to assist with joining and leaving motorways, lane changes, overtaking and lane selection while requiring continuous driver supervision.
According to the company, motorway environments have been prioritised because of their more predictable road layouts. Urban NOA, intended for more complex city driving scenarios, is currently under development and is not expected before 2028.
Robotaxi Trials
MG also confirmed that it is carrying out Level 4 robotaxi trials in Germany, the Middle East and China.
Level 4 autonomous vehicles are capable of operating without driver input within defined operating areas. MG said the programme is intended to support the ongoing development and validation of autonomous driving technology, although no timeline has been announced for commercial deployment.
