Valeo has announced that its Smart Safety 360 (VSS360) ADAS system has been selected by one of India’s leading OEMs.
The system will be used to provide advanced driving assistance functions for commercial vehicles, with a new version of set to be designed specifically for the Indian market and manufactured at the company’s facility in Sanand, Gujarat.

Valeo’s ‘one-stop shop’ ADAS system aims to provide a set of safety and comfort functions, including a Moving Off Information System, protection of pedestrians and cyclists during pull-away, Blind Spot Information System, the monitoring of critical side zones for vulnerable road users and main ADAS functions such as Forward Collision Warning, Automatic Emergency Braking, and Lane Departure Warning.
The system also incorporates regular software updates in order to maintain performance via over-the-air-updates delivered throughout the vehicle’s lifecycle, as well as Driver Drowsiness & Attention Warning software, which actively monitors the driver’s attention level to mitigate the risk of accidents caused by fatigue.
Jayakumar G, Group President & Managing Director, Valeo India, said:This award marks an important milestone in expanding our ADAS portfolio in the commercial vehicle segment in India. By localising these advanced solutions, we aim to deliver highly competitive products tailored to our customers’ needs.
Regulatory momentum is a key driver accelerating ADAS adoption and supporting our journey towards safer and smarter mobility in India. Thanks to our local industrial footprint and R&D talent, Valeo is well-positioned to offer cutting-edge systems to our customers in India.
Valeo’s Smart Safety 360 system utilised radar fusion integrated into smart front camera, allowing OEMs to optimise both cost and efficiency by removing Electronic Control Units (ECU). This latest iteration will be specifically developed for the major Indian OEM market, and will meet all General Safety Regulation, including reducing road accidents caused by driver fatigue.
