AutoSens USA 2026 showcased the latest technologies in the automotive sensing and perception stack. Rather than focusing solely on isolated innovations, the event highlighted how each layer of the autonomy pipeline is becoming more tightly coupled, standardised, and data-driven.

Optical Materials and Sensing Quality
At the foundation of the stack, Dexerials focused on improving how vehicles physically capture the world. Its automotive sensing work centres on optical materials designed to reduce image degradation before data reaches a sensor.
Key developments include anti-fogging moth-eye structures and newly developed low-reflection black inks aimed at reducing flare, ghosting, and optical noise in front-facing camera systems. Combined with established capabilities in coatings, conductive films, and resin materials, the emphasis is on improving durability, miniaturisation, and signal clarity across camera-based ADAS systems.
The company emphasised that perception performance begins with optics, and incremental improvements at this layer can significantly improve downstream reliability.
Edge AI and Real-Time Perception
Moving into compute, indie Semiconductor introduced its iND881 edge AI system-on-chip, designed to power next-generation intelligent camera systems for both automotive and robotics applications.
The SoC integrates a neural processing unit, digital signal processor, and quad-core ARM Cortex-A53 CPU in a heterogeneous architecture optimised for real-time workloads. It supports multi-camera imaging pipelines, low-latency HDR processing, and sub-millisecond response times, positioning it as a core building block for ADAS functions.
Importantly, the chip also supports additional sensor modalities, including infrared, thermal, radar, and LiDAR, reflecting a shift toward unified perception compute nodes rather than sensor-specific processing silos.
Fred Jarrar, senior vice president, product line and business management at indie said:With the launch of iND881, we are not only expanding our portfolio but realising the exciting and expansive opportunities in edge AI markets such as automotive and humanoid robotics. By offering our industry-leading SoC solution as an independent platform or combining it with indie’s emotion3D AI perception software, we are truly differentiating ourselves as a complete solutions provider, while providing customers the flexibility to choose their preferred design approach.
High-Bandwidth Data Logging and RAW Compression
A major challenge in autonomous vehicle development is not just perception, but data handling at scale. intoPIX and dSPACE addressed this issue with an integrated demonstration of TicoRAW (JPEG XS RAW) within high-performance in-vehicle data logging systems.
Modern test vehicles generate massive multi-sensor data streams exceeding 50 Gbit/s, creating bottlenecks in storage, bandwidth, and post-processing. The integration of RAW compression at the point of capture enables significant reductions in storage requirements while preserving image fidelity for AI training and validation.
Key benefits highlighted include extended recording durations, faster transfer of datasets to cloud infrastructure, and more efficient handling of high-resolution multi-camera streams.
Pascal Pellegrin, CTO of the intoPIX Automotie Group said:The integration of JPEG XS RAW by dSPACE is a key milestone in the deployment of compression across the automotive market.
The challenges raised by the massive amounts of data generated to develop and validate ADAS functionalities require innovative solutions. With JPEG XS RAW, dSPACE and intoPIX are enabling the adoption of efficient storage and transmission at scale.
Sensor Connectivity and MIPI A-PHY Interoperability
AutoSens USA also included a demonstration of a MIPI A-PHY ecosystem, highlighting growing maturity in automotive SerDes standardisation. The four-company interoperability showcase included Sony Semiconductor Solutions, Valens Semiconductor, Southchip Semiconductor Technology, and Velinktech.

The demonstration featured high-speed transmission of approximately 8 Gbps from 8-megapixel cameras over distances of up to 15 metres, feeding into a Valens deserialiser. This demonstrated the ability for multiple vendors to successfully operate within a shared standardised framework.
Peter Lefkin, MIPI Alliance executive director said:Vendor interoperability like what’s being demonstrated at AutoSens USA is another indicator of the maturity of the A-PHY specification and the robust multivendor ecosystem being built around it. As A-PHY adoption continues to grow—from image sensors and connectivity solutions to in-vehicle platforms—we’re delivering on A-PHY’s commitment to provide automotive OEMs with greater flexibility, broader supplier choice and increased confidence in their supply chains.
MIPI A-PHY is a high-speed communication standard designed for automotive sensor and display connectivity. It is increasingly positioned as a backbone for in-vehicle sensor connectivity, offering high noise immunity, long reach, and compatibility across multiple higher-layer protocols.
AI Development Platforms and Autonomous System Software
At the application and software layer, Vueron Technology introduced its Autonomous AI Foundry vision, expanding beyond LiDAR perception into a full lifecycle autonomy platform.
The system is structured around two core components: Copilot, a real-time LiDAR perception solution for object detection and scene understanding, and X Factory, an end-to-end platform covering data annotation, dataset construction, model training, validation, and deployment.

This approach reflects a broader industry trend, where autonomy is increasingly defined by the efficiency of the entire data-to-deployment pipeline. By integrating data workflows with model development and validation, Vueron is positioning itself as a provider of the “intelligence layer” rather than just a perception component supplier.
Across all announcements at AutoSens USA 2026, the defining trend is arguably the increasing integration between the technology layers.
