Einride AB, a technology company whose aim it is to support cost-efficient autonomous and electric freight transport, has announced a collaboration with NVIDIA to accelerate the transition of its freight network to autonomous operations.

Einride develops and integrates technology for cost-efficient autonomous and electric freight networks. With shipping customers around the world, Einride currently operates several hundred electric trucks for major shippers in the United States, Europe and the Middle East. The fleet includes autonomous trucks that are already operating in contracted customer deployments. The company says it believes its footprint will reach 1,500–2,000 vehicles by 2028 – a figure it is basing on customer demand to date. It further says that around 80 percent of that demand is suitable for automation in the medium-term as it develops its autonomous technology.

Einride designs, builds and operates the autonomous driving system end-to-end, including safety validation, regulatory approval and contracted customer deployments. NVIDIA supplies the underlying compute platform and AI development tools required by the system.

Henrik Green, Chief Technology Officer at Einride, said:

We have the customers, the operational experience and the technology. Building the next generation of the Einride Driver on the NVIDIA Hyperion platform, will enable us to scale autonomous deployment across a freight network that's already serving customers today.

Rishi Dhall, Vice President of Automotive at NVIDIA, said:

Autonomous trucking represents one of the clearest opportunities to improve the safety and efficiency of global freight. By building on NVIDIA Hyperion with the NVIDIA Halos safety system and using NVIDIA Cosmos and Blackwell infrastructure, Einride can accelerate the development and validation of its autonomous-driving technology and scale deployments across its growing freight network.

The collaboration between these two companies will use the NVIDIA Hyperion platform, a compute and sensor reference architecture for Level 4 (hands off, eyes off) autonomy. It will also integrate with the NVIDIA Halos safety system. With these two features in place, Einride says it has the scalable foundation it needs to accelerate safe, production-ready autonomous freight operations.

Einride is planning to deploy NVIDIA Blackwell architecture at scale with an NVIDIA Exemplar Cloud partner – a cloud provider validated by NVIDIA as having infrastructure capable of handling large-scale AI training performance.

Einride wants to adapt the NVIDIA Hyperion platform for heavy-duty trucking. It will work with NVIDIA to expand the platform’s compute, sensor, software and safety architecture to the demands of heavy-duty freight. Einride is also using NVIDIA Cosmos, which allows it to search and curate camera data to identify complex edge cases as well as enhance real-world data with photorealistic synthetic scenarios that increase the range of data available for AI training and validation.
