Starting a New Wave of Sustainable Commute for Delivery Executives

As we head towards new beginnings, we are excited to showcase how Shared Mobility and Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) can transform the way delivery executives commute.

Dussehra is a time of welcoming new and better beginnings. As we head towards our new milestones, we can’t express enough gratitude to everyone who has made our past year a celebratory one! With our last month’s fresh round of capital, we are now ready to soar into the next phase of Yulu’s growth. Over the course of time, we saw Delivery Executives embracing Yulu and the concept of Shared Mobility and realized that not only this particular segment was playing their role effectively towards the environment but also that we were making a huge impact on these people’s daily lives.

A frequent trending topic on social media ‘Peak Bengaluru’ reflects how products and services from one start-up enable the services of another start-up in fulfilling consumer demands. And in the past two years, Yulu has been the pivot of many such ‘Peak Bengaluru’ moments.

A common sight in Bengaluru, Mumbai and Delhi today is of the delivery executives from various start-ups riding Yulu to deliver food, groceries, medicines, packages, etc. Yulu is an absolute choice of all the delivery executives because of its low entry barrier to using our electric 2-wheelers, and the unisex design of our EVs that can be ridden comfortably by both male and female riders.

Being India’s largest shared electric mobility company, Yulu has made significant inroads in the delivery segment. We started with a promise of connecting daily commuters’ first-and-last-mile commute needs with our Mobility-as-a-Service (MaaS) model. With the pandemic, we saw a new user base adopting our shared electric vehicles- delivery workers. And in the last two years, we have designed an integrated rental model for these gig economy workers that not only gives them near-zero downtime with our vertically integrated battery swapping model but also helps them increase their earning potential.

Ride Safer, Ride Longer

Our EVs provide an easily accessible, affordable and sustainable solution to the mobility needs of millions of delivery workers, and with the bike’s well-balanced and unisex design, these vehicles are considered as the best when it comes to safety, cost-effectiveness and inclusivity for both male and female delivery executives. Today, Yulu is ubiquitous with delivery executives.

There are two vital reasons why delivery workers prefer Yulu-

  • No range anxiety: Yulu has built a dense network of battery swapping stations that enable delivery workers to easily swap their batteries. Battery Swapping is more favorable in the delivery space as it enables delivery executives to do more deliveries with minimal downtime. It also helps our vehicles to be on the road for a longer time, and hence cater to more customers.
  • Less financial burden: Our affordable rental plans have helped delivery workers have 40% more savings compared to other conventional fuel vehicles. Not only this, many users who are riding Yulu for their deliveries are first-time entrants to the city, or are people who can’t own their vehicles. And for them, Yulu has been a lifeline in many ways.

We have served more than 40,000 delivery workers till date.  The pandemic not only brought out the agility of many businesses like ours in adapting to the changing consumer preferences but also brought forth the resilience of many people in finding new means of livelihood.

As we head towards the new festive year, we are excited to achieve new milestones, build more scalable and inclusive solutions for our delivery partners, and place 1,00,000 new EVs (including the much-awaited Yulu Dex!) on roads to solve the last mile commute & delivery needs of urban dwellers.

And as we expand our horizons to step into more cities, we are supercharged for the future and look forward to having many more ‘Peak (your city!)’ moments in the coming months!
