Artificial intelligence, connected fleet management and digital passenger systems will form a significant part of the technology on display at the International Bus and Coach Fair (FIAA 2026), taking place at IFEMA Madrid from 22–24 September.
Alongside new electric buses and coaches, exhibitors will present technologies aimed at improving operational efficiency, passenger safety and driver awareness through artificial intelligence, telematics and connected infrastructure.
Several companies will introduce AI-powered safety systems designed to reduce the risk of collisions and improve visibility around buses.
Winfin will showcase Vision360 AI, a camera-based vision system intended to eliminate blind spots in urban environments. Arcol will present its eMirror Compact, a digital camera mirror replacement system developed for minibuses, while Azimut Electronics will demonstrate an autonomous pedestrian warning system that alerts both drivers and pedestrians at blind junctions.
City Life (EYSaS) will exhibit its EAS system, which monitors the area around a stationary bus to help prevent incidents involving pedestrians and cyclists.
Accessibility technology will also feature, with Masats unveiling AIDA, an artificial intelligence vision system capable of identifying passengers who may require additional assistance before boarding.
Fleet management and operational software will be another focus throughout the exhibition.
Cojali will present Jaltest Telematics, combining multi-brand remote diagnostics with real-time ecodriving analysis to help operators monitor vehicle performance and energy consumption.
GMV will showcase developments in account-based ticketing (ABT), EMV payment technology and operational management through its ITS Suite platform, alongside a range of onboard hardware designed for different operating environments.
Passenger information and ticketing technologies will also be represented. SINFE will introduce Localiza Mi Bus, allowing passengers to track buses in real time, while Busmatick Group will present its modular ModuLite ticketing and validation architecture. Hanover Display will exhibit CANBus-compatible driver consoles linked to its cloud-based Hanover Cloud management platform.
Artificial intelligence will also be applied to fleet management, with Movertis introducing virtual assistants and dynamic dashboards intended to support real-time monitoring of vehicle performance and fuel consumption.
Driver-focused technology will be represented by SENPTEC, which plans to present its Digital Driver’s Workplace, featuring an electrically adjustable driver’s seat that uses biometric recognition to automatically adapt seating and vehicle settings to individual drivers.
The technologies on display at FIAA 2026 reflect the growing role of digital systems in public transport, with manufacturers and technology suppliers increasingly integrating artificial intelligence, connected platforms and automated safety features alongside vehicle electrification.
