The US Transportation Department (US DOT) has launched a brand-new initiative to optimise and modernise the American transportation system.
Aligned with President Trump’s Genesis Mission Executive Order; the effort forms part of a series of new ‘Genesis Mission National Science and Technology Challenges’ announced by the White House yesterday (22 July).
The initiative will aim to utilise artificial intelligence (AI) in an effort to transform how the nation builds, operates, and maintains its physical transportation infrastructure. It is a part of a broader, cross-agency effort with the Department of Energy and the National Science Foundation to reimagine the design, operation, and resiliency of America’s physical infrastructure in order to lower costs, improve safety, and increase efficiency.
