The service will appeal to locals, tourists and families alike.

The Tasmanian Beam fleet will feature hydraulic suspension, a double kick-stand for anti-tipping, triple brakes, bluetooth-locked helmet, phone and coffee holders, as Beam continues to bring the newest micromobility technology to ANZ. Beam’s service will feature affordable pay-as-you-go rates and subscriptions for regular users. The service will appeal to locals, tourists and families alike, with every ride covered by Beam’s personal accident insurance.

Beam ANZ General Manager, Tom Cooper, said:

We’re thrilled to have secured the tender to bring micromobility to Hobart and Launceston, and we thank both Councils for entrusting us with executing the state’s first shared micromobility program. We look forward to working closely with both city councils to bring safe, affordable and sustainable e-scooter transport to the region.

We are excited to also be introducing Beam’s exclusive tourism, community and business support programs to both cities in the coming months, including our Beam For All program benefiting those with limited-incomes, which we’ll run alongside our local partner Aurora Energy, and the Beam Booster program to support local businesses.

We’re also committed to leading with safety first, not just for our riders but for members of the community. We’re proud to be the operator with the lowest incident rate in the region, and will work with residents of both cities to introduce micromobility to the region in a safe way.

Tasmania is a beautiful state, and we look forward to seeing locals and visitors alike exploring more of both Hobart and Launceston on our e-scooters.

The Beam offering will also include:

  • Beam Safe Academy: The Beam Safe Academy is Australia’s first fully fledged safety program that incorporates an interactive safety quiz and a launch briefing guide for new users.
  • Beam Booster: A unique program designed to assist local shops, restaurants and cafes in the cities in which we operate as they strive to reinvigorate their businesses post COVID-19. Named ‘Operation Booster’, Beam’s proprietary partnership platform utilises a blend of GPS-technology, in-app notifications and partner incentives to help stimulate economic activity at the local community level.
  • Beam For All: #BeamForAll offers discounted Universal Passes to users with limited incomes, including students and concession card holders. Because we believe in making sustainable and convenient mobility accessible to all. In Tasmania, #BeamForAll will be rolled out in conjunction with community partner Aurora Energy.
  • Virtual docking: Beam will utilise technology and GPS to direct riders to appropriate parking spots through a combination of guidance, incentives, and disincentives.
