Yulu’s vision is to make urban mobility shared, seamless, and sustainable.

We started with pedal bicycles, introduced shared Electric Vehicles (EVs) to our fleet and to further give our users a superlative ride experience, launched India’s largest AI-enabled battery charging and swapping Network called Max Network in Bengaluru on November, 2021.

BaaS

One of the first entrants in the Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) segment in India, it’s been one successful year of growth, innovation and tremendous learnings. We not only built a robust network of battery charging and swapping stations aimed at helping users swap their batteries with ease, but also created many memories along the way.

It’s been

  • 1 year since we launched our first Max Station to charge up #MissionElectric, one pin code at a time
  • 1 year since we started accelerating our Max Network for your Supercharged Rides
  • 1 year since India’s largest Battery Swapping Infrastructure started empowering Green Rides & Green Deliveries

Max Network was launched with an aim to solve one of the biggest concerns of EV users – range anxiety. In the last one year, the Max Network has used the best of our data to predict and fulfill battery requirements based on demand patterns and trends to ensure uninterrupted rides. What looks like a simple touchpoint from the outside actually has sophisticated technology powering it to ensure everything is data-driven. We built a separate app and tech backbone for our battery swapping Network to elevate customer experience. And its tech engine is ever-evolving with more logics being built in constantly and the algos being improved continuously.

One of the significant beneficiaries of this battery swapping Network have been delivery executives. Delivery Executives have completed over 75 million green deliveries using our EVs to date. Max Networks not only provides them with the convenience of fully charged batteries on the go but also helps in reducing their downtime, leaving them with more ride-time for their deliveries.

The Max Stations are assisted swapping centers, manned by our Max Commanders, who ensure that our customers have a seamless EV experience. They also serve as a great point that allows us to get feedback and keep our ears close to the ground.

Over the past year, this has been a major enabling factor in bringing more people to ride EVs, and have them realise the benefits of using Shared EVs as compared to ICE run vehicles. We have constantly improved our processes and capabilities at the Max Station to improve customer experience. A recent exciting feature we rolled out for the customers was ‘Tokens for Battery Swap’ which not only improves their experience but helps us manage our operations better. This first-of-a-kind system allows customers to reserve a battery even before reaching the Max Station, which in-turn helps save time, reduces hassles, builds trust and enables the availability of fully charged batteries to our users whenever they need more juice for their daily deliveries.

We have 75+ battery swapping stations in 3 cities, and are creating new technologies on-ground to perform battery-swapping operations more efficiently and at scale. Currently, the Max Network powers Yulu vehicles, but this is only a starting point. Our vision is to have the Max Station play a much bigger role in India’s EV future, and open up its network to cater to other EVs to help accelerate the electrification of both personal and shared mobility in India.
