Electreon Winner of “V2I Innovation of the Year” from AutoTech Breakthrough

Annual Awards Program Recognizes Innovation in Automotive and Transportation Technologies Around the Globe

Electreon (TASE: ELWS.TA), the leading provider of wireless and in-road wireless electric vehicle (EV) charging technology, today announced it has been selected as winner of the “V2I Innovation of the Year” award in the third annual AutoTech Breakthrough Awards program conducted by AutoTech Breakthrough, a leading market intelligence organization that recognizes the top companies, technologies and products in the global automotive and transportation technology markets today.

AutoTech Breakthrough Awards

The mission of the annual AutoTech Breakthrough Awards program is to conduct the industry’s most comprehensive analysis and evaluation of automotive and transportation technology categories, including Connected Car, Electric Vehicles, Engine Tech, Automotive CyberSecurity, Sensor Technology, Traffic Tech and many more. This year’s program attracted more than 1,500 nominations from over 15 different countries throughout the world.

Bryan Vaughn, Managing Director of AutoTech Breakthrough Awards, said:

Considering the additional minerals, materials and energy required to manufacture an lithium-ion battery today, the carbon emissions associated with producing an EV can be 38-74% more than a gas-powered vehicle. Strategies to extend battery life and minimize manufacturing impacts and resource requirements are critical. Additionally, charging EV’s puts a heavy burden on our already stretched national electric grids. Wireless charging could be a panacea for the challenges the transport and energy industries face, while keeping costs low for end-users. This is an incredible innovation that will accelerate adoptions of EVs the world over. Congratulations on being our choice for ‘V2I Innovation of the Year.

Electreon delivers cost-effective, wireless charging infrastructure and services, including dynamic wireless charging that turns roads into Electric Road Systems (ERS) and offers fleet operators flexible business models to accelerate EV adoption.

Wireless charging can be installed anywhere as it does not have the same limitations as plug-in charging. Wireless charging allows fleets to adapt their charging events to their existing business workflows with short top-up charging sessions throughout the operational day, so vehicles can carry smaller batteries and remain in service for longer.

Wireless top-up charging spreads energy demand over time and space, particularly when dynamic charging is incorporated into a charging project. It shifts most of the fleet power demand to the day and therefore massively reduces pressure on the grid and reduces the required electricity grid connection upgrade, further lowering a fleet owner’s total cost of ownership (TCO.) All of the above can be achieved while the size, weight and cost of the batteries in EVs are minimized. This means wireless charging can keep smaller batteries working for longer.

Electreon offers charging in three ways: Wireless Electric Roads allows charging for vehicles in motion (driving) along their daily routes, like trucks traveling from point to point, buses and bus rapid transit (BRTs); Additionally, charging is available for slow-moving vehicles such as queuing taxis waiting for passengers, entry to logistics hubs, and traffic lights; Lastly, vehicles can charge while parked (i.e. stationary charging) at bus stations, loading docks, and parking lots.

Oren Ezer, CEO of Electreon, said:

Electreon is honored to be recognized by the AutoTech Breakthrough team alongside such an established list of innovative companies. Electreon’s wireless EV charging product is being deployed in projects around the world, including a first-in-the-U.S. Road System in Michigan that will be completed in 2023, and has proven to reduce emissions among some of the highest polluting gas-powered vehicles, such as buses. We are dedicated to continuing to scale our deployments to new states and countries as the world looks to decarbonize transportation.

Electreon is building an ecosystem of global partners to offer real, sustainable and cost-effective solutions to regional municipalities, Departments of Transportation, and fleet operators.
