Micromobility operator, Voi has announced a new global partnership with Flare, a specialist in mobility safety intelligence.

This collaboration will see Voi’s rental vehicles equipped with Flare’s advanced incident detection solution to help improve safety for over 7 million riders.

It will also provide visibility for all Voi vehicles on the Flare Aware network, which is used by delivery fleets and large vehicles.

Voi and Flare aim to transform safety standards within the micromobility sector and help pave the way for a future of secure and sustainable urban transportation
Voi and Flare aim to transform safety standards within the micromobility sector and help pave the way for a future of secure and sustainable urban transportation
Soffi Razavi, Head of Road Safety at Voi, said:

We are thrilled to partner with Flare to further our commitment to rider safety. Flare’s advanced safety technology will help us to detect and prevent accidents, and ensure that our riders have the safest possible experience. We believe that this partnership will help to transform the micromobility industry and make it safer for everyone.

The integration of Flare’s technology into the Voi app will enable rider events to be swiftly and accurately detected and relayed to Voi.

In the event of a serious incident, Voi will be immediately prompted to take action to support its riders.

This data will also enable Voi to anonymously analyse and share incident records with local authority stakeholders to help design safer streets and improve infrastructure for all road users.

In addition to protecting riders through the use of Flare’s incident detection technology, the partnership will add all Voi vehicles to the Flare Aware real-time safety network.

This network acts as a pre-warning system to alert its users of the presence of vulnerable road users (VRUs).

Charlie Wilson, Chief Commercial Officer at Flare, said:

Voi’s continued commitment to improving rider safety and understanding road risks makes working together a natural fit. All Voi users are now protected by Flare as well as all Voi vehicles being visible on the rapidly expanding Flare Aware network.

Improved safety is universally called out as a requirement across the micromobility industry, so we are delighted to be working with such an innovative and conscious partner in this area with Voi.
