Neuron Mobility has published research stating that each of its e-scooters contributes 11,500 GBP a year to local businesses in the UK, amounting to a total of 14.9m GBP.

The e-scooter operator has published a UK Prosperity Report for 2022, exploring the impact of e-scooters on local economies.

Its research found that e-scooter riders in Neuron’s three UK locations, Newcastle, Slough and Sunderland, spent nearly 15 million GBP a year at local businesses, with 9 million GBP spent in Newcastle alone.

This equates to 11,500 GBP a year per e-scooter deployed, at an average of 17.30 GBP per trip.

The rising popularity of using e-scooters on UK high streets is therefore providing businesses which a much-needed boost, the researchers concluded.

Neuron notes that e-scooters also bring other benefits, such as offering night-time economy workers like doctors and nurses a reliable and convenient alternative to cars and taxis.

Following this publication, Neuron will also be launching versions of the report specific to Australia and Canada.
