Isaías Táboas, the president of Renfe, has launched the company’s new MaaS service, dōcō, which will offer door-to-door mobility services in Spain.

This makes Renfe the first public company to manage door-to-door mobility services.

Previously known as the Renfe as a Service (RaaS) project, dōcō connects urban and interurban public transport and private and shared transport services on a single platform.

The system allows customers to plan and book multimodal journeys through a single payment.

In addition, dōcō will offer the best routes and combination of transport modes to reach the destination, allowing users to choose between the fastest, cheapest or most sustainable option.

To enable these functions, Renfe has worked with technology partners, NTT DATA and Siemens Mobility to launch dōcō.

The name dōcō comes is a combination of the first two syllables of the words ‘where?’ and ‘how?’ in Spanish.

The platform is currently in an initial phase of attracting early adopters and will be rolled out gradually.
