Cityboat has ordered an electric passenger ferry from Hyke for zero-emission operations around Haugesund, Norway.

The company, a joint venture between Rødne and Viking Adventure, will take delivery of the Hyke F-15 Shuttle at the end of 2026. Herde Kompositt will construct the 15-metre vessel in Hardanger using mainly Norwegian systems and components.

Rødne CEO Lars A. Rødne said:

With its groundbreaking design, minimal energy consumption and low operating costs, the Hyke F-15 Shuttle represents something completely new in the market.

Hyke designed the F-15 Shuttle to run without emissions and with limited noise and vibration. Operators can charge the vessel using electric vehicle fast chargers or standard electrical connections, avoiding the need for dedicated shore infrastructure.

The companies developed the F-15 Shuttle in Norway and designed it for serial production, aiming to shorten delivery times and reduce costs for future customers.

The ferry can carry up to 50 passengers and has a battery capacity of 196 kWh.
