NaaS Technology has launched an automatic charging robot that can charge electric vehicles (EVs) while they are parked and unmanned.

The new EV charging robot is equipped with features such as active vehicle locating, smart charging and automatic payment settlement.

NaaS' charging robot
NaaS Technology’s charging robot was developed by the company’s Automatic Energy Replenishment Solution team

To automatically charge an electric vehicle, the robot’s mechanical arms will dock into a vehicle’s port and complete the charging and payment process without human intervention.

The company says its technology incorporates deep learning, 5G, V2X and simultaneous localisation and mapping, which enables the robot to actively locate an EV and self-park prior to charging.

On approaching the vehicle, the mechanical arm should accurately detect the position of the charging port and complete the automatic plugging and unplugging of the charging gun

NaaS Technology’s robot can initiate a vehicle search and connect with car systems through an API interface, enabling it to identify vehicles with low battery power while the owners are away from their parked cars.
