Gogoro has partnered with Cycle & Carriage (C&C) to introduce its battery-swapping stations and Smartscooters in Singapore by the end of 2024.
This move follows a successful pilot programme approved by Singapore’s Land Transport Authority (LTA).
Cycle & Carriage is also collaborating with Shell Recharge to establish GoStations at Shell service stations across Singapore.
Horace Luke, founder and CEO of Gogoro said:After working closely with Singapore’s Land Transport Authority (LTA) to secure a permit to launch our battery swapping platform in Singapore, I am pleased to announce that Gogoro is now certified to operate in Singapore. This certification is a testament to how safe, smart, reliable and eco-friendly Gogoro battery swapping is. We are looking forward to providing a seamless path for riders to adopt sustainable electric transportation in Singapore.
In March 2023, Gogoro and C&C teamed up with foodpanda to trial Gogoro’s Smartscooters and battery-swapping platform.
The pilot, ending in September 2024, has received positive feedback for the scooters’ speed, low heat, silent operation, and minimal vibrations. Battery swaps are also completed in under a minute, proving convenient and efficient.
On average, riders have covered about 2,200 kilometres monthly, performing up to two swaps daily. Each swap enables up to 100 kilometres of travel.
Wilfrid Foo, Managing Director of Cycle & Carriage Singapore said:While battery swapping technology and two-wheel electric vehicles are relatively new in Singapore, our partnership with Gogoro will accelerate the growth. The positive feedback from foodpanda riders and valuable data gained from the sandbox pilot have given us confidence to commercialise Gogoro in Singapore. We believe that this is a viable green mobility solution for Singapore.
Following the trial, Cycle & Carriage will offer three Smartscooter models in Singapore by Q4 2024:
- Gogoro SuperSport: A powerful, sporty model for affluent riders
- Gogoro Premium: A stylish daily commuter with metallic body panels
- Gogoro Viva Mix: A cost-effective option for high-mileage users.
The Gogoro Battery Swapping Network will provide a smart, safe battery-swapping system for these vehicles.
Meanwhile, as part of this network, Cycle & Carriage’s partnership with Shell Recharge will see the first GoStation at Shell service stations completed by August 2024, with more installations planned over the next two years.
