The approval follows earlier launches in Great Britain, Germany, and Spain in 2023.

BlueCruise can now also be used on highways in Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, and Sweden.

The technology has also previously been approved in the US and Canada, bringing the total number of countries where it is available globally to 17.

Its expansion across Europe means that customers can now use BlueCruise for extended road trips, such as travelling from Sweden to Italy, covering nearly 3,000 kilometres (1,864 miles) hands-free.

This capability can enhance driver convenience, safety and accessibility.

The BlueCruise Level 2 “hands-off, eyes-on” advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) controls steering, acceleration, braking, and lane positioning while monitoring road conditions and traffic. Meanwhile, a driver-facing camera ensures drivers keep their eyes on the road.
