Backed by Ford Philanthropy and powered by Australian tech company SkedGo, the Feonix Catch a Ride Network demonstrates a practical way to connect participants with healthcare, work and essential services, with lessons for Australia’s NDIS ecosystem.
Sydney, 3 November 2025; Feonix – Mobility Rising has launched the Catch a Ride Network in the United States, supported by Ford Philanthropy and powered by SkedGo’s journey planning technology. The initiative helps social agencies and clinics coordinate rides across community shuttles, buses, taxis, rideshare and volunteer drivers so people can reach vital appointments and services.

For Australia, the model offers a tangible blueprint for NDIS providers, plan managers, support coordinators, Primary Health Networks and councils looking to improve access, reduce travel administration and strengthen audit trails, especially in regional and outer-urban areas where services are fragmented.
Technology built for micro-providers
A defining feature of the Catch a Ride approach is that it brings even the smallest operators into a shared coordination hub. Many community and not-for-profit providers run a small number of vehicles with limited digital capacity. SkedGo’s platform makes onboarding simple and low-cost, without requiring technical expertise or expensive software. Providers can list vehicles, accept bookings, manage trips and report on outcomes alongside larger services such as taxis, rideshare or local buses.
John Nuutinen, CEO of SkedGo, said:Transport is often the missing link between support plans and real world outcomes. Working with Feonix, we’ve shown how inclusive technology can make every seat count. In Australia, the same model can help NDIS providers and health partners connect people to appointments and community life, while improving transparency for funders.
Fit for NDIS governance and reporting
SkedGo’s configurable platform helps consolidate multiple transport options in one place, with tools that support provider compliance, budgeting and reporting. That means clearer audit trails for transport support, easier reconciliation with plan funding and evidence of outcomes for participants and commissioners.
Scalable foundations, local delivery
The Catch a Ride platform uses SkedGo’s global mobility technology, which already connects thousands of transport providers across hundreds of cities. Partners like Feonix can tailor journey options, data flows and interfaces to local priorities, from health access and social care to employment and education, while maintaining a consistent backbone for scale.
Why it matters for Australia
- Participants gain more reliable access to healthcare, community and work.
- Providers reduce manual scheduling and improve data quality for claims and audits.
- Communities make better use of existing fleets, including volunteer drivers and community transport.
- Health partners can coordinate travel for clinics and outreach with fewer missed or late arrivals.
Collaboration and next steps
Feonix invites nonprofits, health agencies and philanthropic partners to collaborate in expanding transport access through the Catch a Ride Network. SkedGo is exploring opportunities with Australian NDIS providers, councils and PHNs to pilot similar coordination models. More information: catcharide.org
