Beep has begun testing autonomous passenger services using Volkswagen ID. Buzz electric vans in Lake Nona, Orlando, Florida. Invited passengers are now able to book journeys through its mobile app.

The trial marks the first US passenger operations for MOIA America, which is supplying the vehicles and supporting technology for the deployment. The vans use autonomous driving technology developed by Mobileye.

Passengers can request journeys through the Beep app and board at designated stops across three planned routes. Trained human operators will remain onboard during the testing phase, and passengers will be invited to provide feedback on the service.

Beep is operating the passenger service, while MOIA America is responsible for providing the vehicles, booking software and operator training.

Mark Reid, co-founder and senior vice president of Beep, said:

This deployment is a defining milestone in our journey to make autonomous mobility a practical and scalable transportation option for communities across the United States.

The launch of passenger service in Lake Nona, with vehicles now operating at full traffic speeds, represents the introduction of an end-to-end autonomous microtransit solution that can expand access, strengthen connectivity through on-demand capabilities, and serve as a natural extension of existing mobility networks.

Beep has noted that the test will now provide insight into how passengers use the service and whether autonomous vans could complement existing transport options. The Lake Nona deployment will allow the companies to evaluate the service under real-world conditions while human operators remain onboard.
