ÖBB has simplified the purchase of public transport tickets within Austria by launching a new SimplyGo! feature in the ÖBB app.
This integrated function enables customers to swipe the screen in the ÖBB app at the start and end of their journey to ensure they are charged the cheapest ticket for travelling by by train, bus, tram or subway.
SimplyGo! uses GPS tracking to recognise the routes travelled and determine the appropriate fare each day.
This feature can be used anywhere within Austria.
ÖBB-Personenverkehr AG board member Sabine Stock said:Customers have never been able to use public transport so flexibly and spontaneously. In hindsight, SimplyGo! determines the best offer from the available standard, single, day and 24-tickets that can be purchased in the ÖBB ticket shop.
With the possibility of depositing the ÖBB Vorteilscard and annual transport association tickets, discounts are automatically recorded - the tiresome search for the right ticket or the city limits will no longer be necessary in the future.
SimplyGo! is now available with the latest update of the ÖBB app. The app has also been upgraded to provide users with a more intuitive home screen and clearer menu navigation.
