ACTON is deploying its micromobility docking and charging stations across Paris, France.

These stations will allow riders of private and shared e-bikes and e-scooters to park and charge their micromobility vehicles in designated areas to help keep pedestrian spaces clear.

ACTON will deploy the all-in-one stations as part of a major urban transformation championed by Paris mayor Anne Hidalgo

Initially, 42 stations will be installed in six locations, followed by an additional 150 stations in 17 locations across Paris’s Rive Gauche district.

The docking, locking and charging stations will connect key transportation hubs such as Gare D’Austerlitz, Place d’Italie and Olympiades with residential areas like Station F, Bibliothèque nationale de France and Paris University.

They can be powered by existing street fixtures including advertising boards, bus stations and street lighting or via a dedicated solar source.

The rollout is expected to be complete by the end of 2022.

Marc-Antoine Réol, Country Manager France at ACTON said:

With over 15,000 shared electric scooters and e-bikes in Paris, in addition to a rapidly growing number of privately owned vehicles, the need for easy, convenient and safe charging infrastructure for these light electric vehicles (LEV) is becoming a public service necessity. Paris is the ideal hub for our next-generation stations to make transportation even more efficient.

ACTON will install the stations as part of the city’s urban transformation, which aims to turn Paris into a ’15-Minute City.’ This would allow inhabitants to reach all locations and amenities for their daily needs within a 15-minute walk or bike ride.

The project is overseen by Paris’s Urban Lab and incorporates partnerships with Engie Solutions, Smovengo, Enedis (subsidiary of EDF), EIT InnoEnergy and the NGO XIII Avenir.

The announcement follows ACTON’s acquisition of DUCKT earlier this year, enabling the company to merge DUCKT’s micromobility docking products with its e-bikes and e-scooters.
