Yutong has announced the intention to launch a brand-new electric truck for the UK market.

The vehicle, which will be both sold and serviced by the Pelican Engineering Group, is set to debut in Q2 of 2025.

The partnership continues a relationship between the two companies stretching back to 2014, with over 1,500 buses and coaches sold thus far, 800 of which have been battery-electric units.

The truck, the Yutong T57e, will come equipped with either a 100kW or 132kW battery, with the higher capacity model featuring a range of more than 180 miles per-charge.

Richard Crump, Managing Director at Pelican Engineering, explains:

This is a very exciting development for us.

If the UK is to satisfy its net zero ambitions, then the decarbonisation of the commercial vehicle sector is a crucial part of the jigsaw. We believe the 7.5-tonne sector is the easiest sector to electrify and the Yutong truck chassis, combined with our cost-effective charger and battery storage solution provided by Pelican AEAUTO, brings operators a readymade solution for their zero-emission needs.

Yutong will offer a range of body types, including box, tipper, curtain side, compaction and insulated bodies, with three additional electric Power Take-Off (ePTO) options also set to be available.

The vehicle’s public exhibition debut is set to take place at Road Transport Expo at Stoneleigh from 24-26 June 2025.
