WeRide has partnered with Uber Technologies to bring WeRide’s autonomous vehicles to the Uber platform, starting in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

This partnership will combine WeRide’s expertise in self-driving technology with Uber’s extensive ride-hailing network.

The collaboration will initially launch in Abu Dhabi later this year, where a select fleet of WeRide’s autonomous vehicles will be available to Uber users.

When requesting a ride via the Uber app, riders may have the option to be picked up by a WeRide autonomous vehicle.

WeRide already operates the largest robotaxi fleet in the UAE through the TXAI app.

In July 2023, WeRide became the first and only company to receive a national license for self-driving vehicles in the UAE, allowing it to test and operate its autonomous vehicles on public roads nationwide.

This unique positioning and regulatory approval makes WeRide a crucial player for the UAE’s rapidly developing autonomous transport.

Tony Han, founder and CEO of WeRide said:

We are honoured to partner with Uber to continue to bring our technology to global markets. Together, we aim to combine our collective experience and expertise to deliver much-needed, affordable, sustainable, and safe mobility solutions to a global audience.

This partnership aligns with broader industry trends towards shared, electric, and autonomous mobility solutions.

Dara Khosrowshahi, CEO of Uber said:

Uber is very excited to partner with WeRide. It’s clear that the future of mobility will be increasingly shared, electric, and autonomous, and we look forward to working with leading AV companies like WeRide to help bring the benefits of autonomous technology to cities around the world.
