E-Mobility specialist, Veo has announced it will introduce its AI-assisted parking assistant in 50+ new markets across the United States.
The technology was developed in partnership with quality control automation platform, Captur and will be incorporated directly into the Veo app, enabling riders to evaluate the quality of their parking at the end of any given ride.
This system uses AI technology developed by Captur to check compliance with local regulations before allowing the ride to be closed.
In Europe, the introduction of the feature has seen an 80% improvement in mis-parking throughout since its regional implementation. Veo now hopes it will aid the company in making strides toward the support of accessible streets throughout the United States.
Veo co-founder and CEO Candice Xie, said:Veo has always been committed to working with our city partners to ensure responsible and orderly parking, and through our work with the disability community, we’ve seen firsthand that it is critical to keep sidewalks clear and accessible.
Captur’s ability to harness AI to deliver on this commitment in a scalable manner is a game changer. We hope that the rest of the industry will follow suit and adopt this technology, ensuring that micromobility continues to grow in a way that benefits all members of our communities.
Captur’s technology uses comprehensive edge models and artificial intelligence capable of adapting to any local parking regulations or vehicle type, and is expected to prevent the mismanagement of parking resources across the country, leaving Veo field technicians more time to dedicate toward fleet management.
Charlotte Bax, founder and CEO of Captur, said:For shared mobility to truly thrive, the industry must ensure that sidewalks remain clear and accessible for everyone.
On the operator side, that requires image-based compliance workflows. Previously, that was extremely complex and costly for operators to manage. With our partnership, Veo can now verify parking before ending the ride with no manual intervention. We’re thrilled to partner with Veo, whose commitment to inclusive urban mobility and accessibility makes them the ideal ally in rolling this technology out across the nation.
The technology is also planned to be utilised to predict challenging parking situations, resulting in invaluable data for both cities and operators when implementing infrastructure upgrades in future.
Markets set to receive the new update include:
- Washington, DC
- Queens and the Bronx, NY
- College Park, MD & the University of Maryland
- West Lafayette, IN & Purdue University
- Veo’s home base of Santa Monica, CA
