Siemens has joined the Curiosity Lab smart city project at Peachtree Corners in Georgia to support bringing 5G charging and electrification solutions to the US.

Peachtree Corners is one of the country’s first smart cities; it makes use of connected infrastructure and 5G.

The city incorporates a 5G network supplied by T-Mobile to trial and deploy several transport technologies.

For example, through a collaboration between T-Mobile, Applied Information and Temple, traffic signals in Peachtree Corners are able to communicate with road vehicles via a mobile app.

Furthermore, Curiosity Lab has also partnered with Spoke to deliver a connected IoT ecosystem for vulnerable road users (VRUs) in the area.

Now, through its collaboration with Siemens, American-built charging stations and infrastructure leveraging T-Mobile’s 5G network will be installed at Curiosity Lab.

With our eMobility R&D headquarters just across the street, we’re thrilled to be supporting Peachtree Corners and joining the Curiosity Lab ecosystem alongside so many great partners whose goals are to bring EV infrastructure to the forefront of cities across the country. This will be a great way to continuously evaluate our charging infrastructure as we collectively seek an electrified future.

The new chargers installed by Siemens will contribute to Peachtree Corners having the largest EV charging hub outside of Metro Atlanta.

Meanwhile, the project will also enable Siemens to continue evolving its EV charging infrastructure solutions through use of the 5G network under real-world conditions.
