The EV Network and bp pulse have opened the UK’s largest public EV charging facility at the NEC Birmingham.

The new ‘Gigahub’ offers 30 ultra-fast 150KW charging points and 150 fast 7kW chargers. This infrastructure enables 180 EVs to charge simultaneously.

By offering both ultra-fast DC charging and 7kW AC charging, the facility aims to accommodate the needs of a range of EV drivers.

This site was officially opened at NEC Birmingham on 7 September 2023 by The Chancellor of the Exchequer, The Rt Hon Jeremy Hunt MP.

Jeremy Hunt MP said:

This is the biggest private investment in electric charging in the UK and is a huge vote of confidence in Britain’s role as a leader in green industries.

The ground-breaking site will be a major transport hub for the future and marks a significant step in our rollout of electric vehicle charging infrastructure across the country.

The Gigahub is now available to the public, alongside the seven million guests who visit the NEC Campus each year.

It is situated in a central location for the UK’s national motorway network, less than 1 mile from junction 6 on the M42 and just 2.4 miles from junction 7A for the M6.
