Transport for London (TfL) has announced that from 02 January 2026, electric vehicles (EVs) entering existing Congestion Zones in will be required to pay a Congestion Charge fee.

The standard daily charge will sit at 18 GBP for all electric vehicles.

A tiered electric vehicle discount will be available for those with Auto Pay enabled, with the daily standard charge halved to 9 GBP for Electric vans, HGVs and quadricycles and quartered to 13.50 GBP for electric cars.

The changes are intended to aid in the management of congestion within the capital.

Last month, Chancellor Rachel Reeves announced that electric vehicle (EV) owners in England will soon be subject to a new mile-based tax as part of the 2025 Autumn Budget.
