The Stromma Group and Vattenfall have announced a partnership to invest in electric sightseeing boats.

This collaboration will initially focus on Stromma’s fleet of canal boats in Amsterdam, which will be fully electrified by 2025.

Vattenfall and Stromma Group are investing in quiet, electric sightseeing boats

The Stromma Group currently operates in 19 locations in six countries. This includes Amsterdam, Berlin, Copenhagen, Oslo, Helsinki and Stockholm.

During the first phase of its partnership with Vattenfall, the company will electrify its canal boats in Amsterdam using battery systems supplied by Vattenfall. This initiative will ensure the company complies with the city’s 2025 mandate for direct-emission-free operations.

Vattenfall will also supply the fossil-free electricity to power Stromma’s future vessels.

Maria Lindberg, responsible for electrification of heavy transport at Vattenfall Network Solutions said:

The partnership with Stromma is a shining example of how we can jointly drive electrification forward and eventually enable a completely emission-free fleet. Our 'Power-as-a-Service' concept is based on us owning, managing and taking responsibility for the operation and maintenance of electrical infrastructure. This means that our customers can focus on their core business.
