New focus for Indonesia Mobility
The development of the electric vehicles industry in Indonesia has entered a new phase. By the government’s direction, Indonesia will become a major player in electric vehicles. Presidential Regulation Number 55 of 2019 is made concerning the Acceleration of the Battery Electric Vehicle Program for Road Transportation. This was followed by the issuance of various derivative regulations to expedite the program.
The numbers of electric vehicles that have been operating in Indonesia until October 23, 2023 are 74,988 units of electric motorcycles, 20,414 units of electric cars, 320 units of electric tricycles, 80 units of electric buses, and 10 units of freight cars. This figure is certainly more when compared to the number of electric vehicles in the previous year. By 2030, the government is targeting to reach 15.7 million of electric bikes and 2.2 million electric cars.
Based on this, INAPA 2024 and EV Indonesia 2024 are a manifestation of Indonesia’s commitment to support the development of the automotive and electric vehicle industry in Indonesia and strengthen Indonesia’s position in the global automotive market.
