HysetCo has inaugurated Europe’s largest hydrogen refuelling station for light vehicles in Porte de St Cloud, Paris.
This is the company’s fourth hydrogen station within its French network, which already includes operational sites in Orly, Roissy and Porte de La Chapelle.
According to HysetCo, the new station has the capacity to produce and deliver up to 1 tonne of hydrogen each day, which is four times greater than at its three existing stations.
This significant increase aims to respond to the growing market demand for hydrogen fuel, with HysetCo already distributing over 16 tonnes of hydrogen each month. This represents nearly 6,000 full tanks of hydrogen and over 1.3 million kilometres driven.
Loïc Voisin, President of HysetCo, said:We are proud to inaugurate Europe's largest hydrogen station, marking a key step in HysetCo's industrial project and in accelerating the transition to zero-emission hydrogen mobility.
Unlike HysetCo’s existing stations, its site in Porte de St Cloud is equipped with an electrolyser, enabling it to produce and distribute hydrogen locally, rather than requiring it to be delivered to the site.
With this latest commissioning, HysetCo hopes to accelerate the uptake of hydrogen mobility, as a lack of infrastructure is currently seen as a large deterrent.
The company currently manages over 300 hydrogen taxis in France, which will be deployed as part of the sustainability plan for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
By the end of 2024, the company plans to have a network of a dozen hydrogen filling stations across the Paris region to serve additional taxis, public transport vehicles and utility vehicles throughout the Olympics. It anticipates that this will include hydrogen-powered mobility applications such as buses, trucks and boats
Valérie Pécresse, President of the Île-de-France Region said:Hydrogen is a strategy for the Île-de-France region to decarbonise our mobility. It is also a key factor in our country's energy autonomy, as hydrogen storage is essential to the development of renewable and local energies. The discovery of white hydrogen reserves in our soil makes the hydrogen sector all the more relevant in this respect.
With 200 light vehicles and 7 buses already on the road, the Paris region has played its full part in the development of this sector. By supporting the HysetCo project, we intend to become the leading region for hydrogen mobility.
