Shared mobility platform, Bolt, has partnered with Hertz, a global car rental company, to make low-emission vehicles more accessible to ride-hailing drivers.
This collaboration will offer drivers on the Bolt platform the option to rent Bolt-branded and unbranded hybrids, plug-in hybrids, and electric vehicles on a flexible, weekly basis.
The partnership will launch in Paris, with plans for expansion across France and other parts of Western Europe.
This initiative will allow drivers to access newer, safer, and fully licensed vehicles equipped with passenger insurance, roadside assistance, and a generous kilometre allowance.
The flexibility of the rental model enables drivers to try out different vehicle types, including EVs, without committing to long-term leases.
Elyes Mrad, Executive Vice President of Hertz International, said:Our new collaboration with one of Europe’s largest mobility platforms is an important development in our goal to be the leading vehicle provider to the ever-expanding mobility market. We look forward to working with Bolt and its partner drivers to offer a wide selection of vehicles based on customer demand and deliver an unmatched customer experience.
By providing ride-hailing drivers with affordable and flexible access to low-emission vehicles, Hertz and Bolt aim to support the transition to electric shared mobility. This collaboration is part of a broader effort to help drivers switch to cleaner vehicles sooner, contributing to more sustainable urban transport systems.
Paddy Partridge, Senior Vice President of Rides at Bolt, said:Bolt is committed to adding more electric vehicles to our platform across Europe as part of a longer-term investment in transitioning to zero-emission vehicles. However, our surveys indicate that the transition remains difficult for both self-employed drivers and fleet operators, so by giving drivers more choice through partnerships like this one with Hertz, we hope to accelerate EV adoption in key regions.
This partnership builds on several initiatives from Bolt aimed at promoting electric mobility across Europe. Earlier this year, Bolt introduced premium EVs in multiple cities through agreements with fleet owners and also partnered with Electra in France and Eleport in Poland and the Baltics to reduce charging costs for drivers.
As initiatives roll out, thousands of Bolt drivers are expected to switch to low-emission vehicles, contributing to Bolt’s broader goal of accelerating the transition to zero-emission vehicles in urban areas across Europe.
