Helbiz is expanding its intermodal mobility offering with the launch of its Helbiz Taxi service.

This launch is part of the micromobility company’s strategy to integrate its e-scooters with additional mobility services to optimise the rider experience on multimodal journeys.

Helbiz will offer on-demand taxi services to promote intermodal transport
Salvatore Palella, Chief Executive Officer at Helbiz said:

Our goal has always been to change the way the world moves. Helbiz Taxi allows us to build on that mission by providing our users with even more ways to get around their city, creating at the same time an already established new revenue source for Helbiz. I’m particularly excited for our first integration that will equip users across our European markets with access to thousands of taxis available on demand. Special incentives will be awarded to consumers who decide to make use of electric taxis from the offering following our path of incentivising sustainable behaviours globally.

Initially, Helbiz will integrate with a selection of active taxi operators, enabling users to call an on-demand taxi, pay, and rate the service within the Helbiz app.

This new option will help users overcome bad weather conditions or travel distances that are too long to travel via e-scooter.

The launch of Helbiz Taxi is likely to boost Helbiz’s revenue, but arguably counters the company’s aim of ‘extending the usefulness of public transportation and reducing the use of carbon-emitting automobiles’.

This mission would instead benefit from an integration of e-scooters into multimodal MaaS applications to promote sustainable transport.
