Having first launched in London in June 2019, Bolt has grown in popularity, with more than half of Londoners using the platform in the past year. Meanwhile, Forest facilitates 1.2 million e-bike rides each month, making it one of the largest e-bike operators in Europe.

Markus Villig, Founder and CEO of Bolt, said:

More than six million people have used Bolt’s ride-hailing service in London and making Forest e-bikes available on the Bolt app will provide them with another convenient and sustainable way to move around, as well as connectivity to existing transport hubs in one of the world’s busiest cities.

Bolt is already the largest scooter and e-bike provider in Europe with over 230,000 vehicles in more than 25 countries, and this is the latest example of how we use partnerships to expand the services we bring to our customers, beyond operating our own fleet.

More than 70 percent of Bolt customers in the UK do not own a car, indicating that shared mobility services are appealing to users moving away from private car ownership. Additionally, one in five Bolt rides in London cover distances under three kilometres, suggesting demand for short-distance transport options that could be completed using micromobility.

Agustin Guilisasti, CEO and Founder of Forest, said:

We are delighted to be launching this ground-breaking partnership with Bolt, seamlessly allowing their millions of customers to access Forest’s affordable and sustainable shared e-bikes in London. Forest’s priority has always been to lower barriers to make cycling as accessible as possible. This is another powerful example of how mobility players can join forces to simplify how we travel, and boost the number of trips made by bike for the benefit of our communities and the environment.

Notably, Forest is the only e-bike operator in London using 100 percent renewable energy to power its electric servicing fleet. The company also offsets its minimal scope 1 emissions, as well as its scope 2 and 3 emissions, through partnerships with local offsetting initiatives in the UK.
