EVBox Partners with Drake & Farrell to Boost the Circularity of its Value Chain

Drake & Farrell becomes EVBox’s new logistics partner to increase the circularity of its EV charging stations and overall value chain. The partnership will help EVBox extend the life cycle of its products beyond their initial use, reduce unnecessary waste, and use resources more efficiently.

EVBox, a leading provider of flexible and scalable charging solutions, is teaming up with Drake & Farrell, a top provider of circular supply chain solutions, to increase the circularity of its value chain. The new partnership will give EVBox a higher degree of control over the lifecycle of its products and increase the potential for reusing and recycling its charging stations and their components.

Partnering for Circularity

EVBox is further contributing to a sustainable future by improving the circularity of its products and ensuring that its charging stations are more durable, are sustainably made, and are purposeful beyond their initial life cycle.

Drake & Farrell will fully repair faulty charging stations to their original state when possible, and diligently dismantle them when repair is not. Whilst no second hand charging stations will be resold, the charging stations themselves, or their spare parts and materials, will then get a second life by being used to replace other charging stations in similar warranty cases. For parts that cannot be reused, the materials will be recycled and will find their way back into the economy in a new form, reducing waste and saving resources.

Drake & Farrell will also provide the tools to help EVBox investigate and better understand the root causes of possible hardware issues and solve them with greater precision. With over 15 years of experience in supply chain circularity, Drake & Farrell is a frontrunner in supporting the electric mobility sector with multiple forward and reverse process solutions. On a pilot project, it was observed that over 50 percent of the charging stations could be successfully repaired and reused. For the remaining stations, parts and components could be successfully harvested to further improve customer support efforts and reduce environmental impact.

Remco Samuels, CEO at EVBox, said:

This is an important step for our company. We are taking further responsibility over our business model, not only by further increasing our knowledge and product quality but especially by being able to implement circularity.

David Engel, CEO at Drake & Farrell, said:

We are convinced that our joint front runner position, being sustainability pioneers, will bring more innovative circular solutions into the reverse logistic flow of EVBox. Consequently, the value for EVBox and society in general is considerably enhanced.

EVBox is improving its processes in alignment with the mission to power our sustainable future. Other ongoing initiatives include using more sustainable plastics in our charging stations and donating used charging stations for educational purposes.
