Dott is deploying AI technology from Captur to improve the parking behaviours of its e-scooter and e-bike riders.

At the end of each trip, Dott riders will submit a parking picture to be reviewed by the AI technology. This review will based on unique requirements set by each city authority.

For example, the parking images will be checked to identify blocked entrances, blocked pavements, vehicles parked in roads, vehicles tipped over and vehicles outside of parking bays.

When incorrect parking is detected, riders will be notified and provided with immediate guidance on how to park responsibly.

This new policy aims to enforce local parking rules and keep pavements and roads clear. In turn, this will improve the integration of Dott’s shared e-scooters and e-bikes in cities across Europe.

Furthermore, riders will now benefit from a more seamless end to their trips, as they will receive instant feedback on their parking. This process replaces more time-consuming, manual reviews of each picture. However, manual checks will still support the AI technology where required.

Maxim Romain, Co-Founder and COO, Dott, said:

Whilst incorrect parking only occurs after a small number of trips, we know it can have a big impact on how people feel about our service. We have introduced this new technology to tackle careless parking. Improved detection will pick up issues instantly, helping us to guide our riders on where to leave the vehicle responsibly.

This new feature will initially be trialled in Grenoble, Madrid and London.

Parking images from rides in Milan, Rome, Padua and Poznan will also be used to gather data for the trial, before Dott explores an expanded rollout.
