Deutsche Bahn (DB) has announced it will present a series of exhibits at the IAA Mobility Expo in Munich this week.
The company will present the vehicle at event’s Open Space exhibition zone in Munich’s city centre from 9–14 September, with free access open to the general public.

DB will bring its Zukunft Nahverkehr (ZNV) initiative to the space, with the letters Ö, P, N, and V adorning Königsplatz square all week.
Evelyn Palla, Member of the Board of Management for Regional Transport at Deutsche Bahn AG, said:Everyday mobility is more than just driving a car. The better public transport is, the better the quality of life – in the city and in the countryside. With our autonomous on-demand shuttles and the new XXL S-Bahn for Munich, we are demonstrating at the motor show what the future of public transport looks like.
We want to offer our passengers a mobility service they can rely on from the first kilometre to the last. Everyone can experience this for themselves, free of charge, at Munich's Königsplatz.
The ZNV Experience World in Munich will allow visitors to interact with displays showcasing how public transport will transport them in the future, with the space also offering a ‘Future Mobility Simulator’ which aims to demonstrate how cities could look if they were designed with public transport in mind.
As part of the space at Königsplatz; The Free State of Bavaria, Siemens, and the Munich S-Bahn will present a walk-through model of the new XXL S-Bahn for the first time – the first vehicles are scheduled to be in service by the end of 2028.
The model on display will show a portion of the new vehicle at a 1:1 scale, allowing visitors to climb inside and experience the vehicle’s design and interior.
The stage programme and panel discussions at the ZNV site are free of charge, with the booth set to open at 11:00 on 9 September and remain open until 14 September from 11:00 to 21:00.
A number of panel discussions from the event will be made available online, including a discussion between Andreas Rade, Managing Director of the Association of German Automotive Industry (VDA), and Jan Schilling, Member of the Board of Marketing at DB Regio.
