Urban Air Mobility (UAM) technology platform company, EHang, has announced that its subsidiary, Guangdong EHang General Aviation Co., Ltd. (EHang General Aviation), has, alongside its joint venture company, Hefei HeYi Aviation Co., Ltd. (HeYi Aviation), been awarded certification for civil, human-carrying pilotless aerial vehicle services by the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC).

The certification will allow both the general public and consumers to purchase tickets for flights engaging in low-altitude tourism, urban sightseeing and other commercial flight services at designated sights in Guangzhou and Hefei.

The certification, which follows previous designations achieved by EHang for the world’s first type certificate (TC), standard airworthiness certificate (AC) and full production certificate (PC), marks the country’s first official foray into human-carrying flight in the low-altitude economy, with the company now taking place as the world’s first eVTOL company to achieve the full suite of regulatory certifications.

EHang has stated it will continue to collaborate with partners in order to expand operation sites throughout China.
