Roadchef has expanded its electric vehicle (EV) charging offerings at Chester services with the installation of six new Shell Recharge ultra-rapid charging bays.

The new bays, which offer an output of up to 300kW, are now available for public use, and have been equipped with Combined Charging System (CCS) connectors to ensure compatibility with a wide range of electric vehicles.

All points on-site accept contactless payment, provide real-time status updates to a number of phone-based charging apps and use 100% renewable energy.

Paul Comer, Director of EV implementation at Roadchef, commented:

The addition of these new EV chargers at Chester highlights our ongoing commitment to supporting sustainable travel and expanding the EV charging network across the UK.

We’re delighted that our partnership with Shell has allowed us to enhance our charging facilities and continue to evolve to meet the needs of the modern motorist.

The Chester services site now offers a mix of both CCS and Chademo connector technologies across 20 charging points.
