Ride-hailing company, Cabify has partnered with Incode Technologies to expand its passenger identity validation system to include selfie verification.

Through this co-operation, Incode’s technology in biometrics and digital identity will be integrated into the Cabify app so that passenger identity can be verified with a selfie. This image will then be instantly checked against official documentation.

Cabify says it believes this system will help preserve the well-being of its drivers by using artificial intelligence and machine learning to detect suspicious activity.

Carlos Herrera, CTO at Cabify said:

This collaboration with Incode reinforces our commitment to providing a safe experience for both passengers and collaborating drivers. We want those drivers who choose Cabify to feel safe. They are the ones who make it possible to move thousands of passengers every week through the cities. Listening and taking care of those behind the wheel is key for us. That is why we are incorporating more and more technology to help reduce the risks of insecurity in cities.

Verifying the identity of our passengers is the most valued tool for our collaborating drivers and taxi drivers, which is why we continue to strengthen it with a leader in the sector like Incode.

This capability is now active in several cities in Argentina, Chile, Colombia, and Peru.

Cabify has created a platform that is bringing together world-leading technologies to transform inner-city mobility, while optimising both user experience and safety. This makes it a really exciting partnership for us, and we are looking forward to working with Cabify as they continue to improve the way in which we travel.

Cabify also launched Spain’s first hydrogen-powered ride-hailing fleet earlier this year.
