Bolt has announced a new partnership to trial Swobbee’s e-scooter battery charging stations in Berlin, Germany.

Bolt will test Swobbee’s charging products with its fleet of e-scooters in Berlin as part of a pilot project. The partnership is then expected to extend to other German cities in the next few months.

The partnership will increase the sustainability and efficiency of Bolt’s e-scooter operations in the German capital
Thomas Duscha, CEO of Swobbee, said:

We are pleased to announce our new partnership with Bolt, Europe's largest micromobility provider, with a first pilot project in Berlin. This partnership is another important step towards decentralising and decarbonising micromobility operations, creating greener, more livable cities for everyone. We look forward to seeing the results of the pilot and hope to expand the partnership to other German and European cities in the future.

By using the Swobbee stations, Bolt will no longer have to collect batteries and bring them back to its central warehouse for recharging. Instead, the team will be able to carry out charging logistics using e-cargo bikes and Swobbee stations that will be installed near Berlin’s e-scooter hotspots.

This is a more sustainable and efficient way of charging Bolt’s e-scooter fleet, as it will save both time and fuel, while also reducing traffic on the streets of Berlin.

Balthasar Scheder, Bolt’s Germany Country Manager for Rentals, said:

At Bolt our mission is to help create cities that are built for people, not cars, and making our operations as environmentally friendly as possible is a big part of that.

Through this partnership with Swobbee we’re able to use a decentralised network of charging stations to swap batteries with e-cargo bikes instead of vans making our operations more efficient and sustainable. With scooters in 59 cities across Germany we hope we’re able to expand the partnership to more cities in the coming months.
