Blade Air Mobility, Inc. has announced a partnership with Skyports Infrastructure to launch a new pilot programme to expand the former’s existing by-the-seat helicopter transfer service in New York City.

The expansion will see the company connecting the city’s Downtown Manhattan Heliport to John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) via a new service aimed at transferring passengers to and from flights at the airport, as well as provide services for residents in Long Island and Queens on weekdays.

The new pilot programme aims to serve as a data collection service for customer demand, flier experience and logistics relating to the company’s Downtown Manhattan Heliport, with hopes to accelerate and normalise the launch of regular Electrical Vertical Aircraft (EVA) services at the facility.

The collaboration’s announcement follows Skyports recent designation as the key operator of the Downtown Manhattan Heliport by the New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC) via its Downtown Skyport JV with Groupe ADP.

Services are due to commence in April, with flights being offered on weekdays from 15:00 to 19:00.
