Archer Aviation has won a bidding process to acquire Lilium GmbH’s portfolio of nearly 300 advanced air mobility patent assets for a total sum of 18 million EUR.
Patents acquired include those relating to a number of key projects in high-voltage systems, battery management, advanced aircraft design, flight controls, electric engines, propellers and ducted fans – the last of which Archer believes to be the leading patent portfolio on such a technology in the world today.

Archer has stated that the acquisition will strengthen its leadership position within the next-generation electric aviation space, as well as reinforce its overall commitment to ensuring that the US remains at the forefront of the development of eVTOL technology.
